The Story of Carmelina’s
Carmelina’s brings traditional Sicilian comfort food with a Mediterranean flair, crafted by Executive Chef Damien DiPaola and Chef di Cucina Michael Hollenkamp. Opened in 2012 on Hanover Street in Boston’s iconic North End—known as Little Italy—Carmelina’s reimagines Chef DiPaola’s cherished family recipes. These time-honored dishes are transformed into modern Italian cuisine, showcasing fresh pasta and seafood in equal measure.
The restaurant’s open kitchen design mirrors a warm, mother-approved cooking space, complete with family photos adorning the walls for a true home-like feel. The intimate setting lets diners watch their meals come to life from start to finish. In the summer, retractable front walls create an inviting open-air dining experience.
Carmelina’s is honored to be featured in Yelp’s 7th Annual Top 100 Places to Eat, celebrating the most beloved and highly rated eateries across the U.S. This recognition reflects the dedication of our passionate team, who have brought our unique twist on Italian cuisine to life.
We invite you to experience the hard work and love poured into every dish. Visit us soon at Carmelina’s in the heart of Boston’s North End!
